Pondering The upcoming Holidays
As I write this newsletter, I am in a tremendous storm aboard a 74,000 ton sea vessel in the North Atlantic with sea swells of 20 feet and winds over 40 knots. It’s rough! It’s not raining (yet), Thank God! But the starboard side of the ship is wet from sea spray. I imagine what it must be like to be on a fishing vessel in the Bering Straight in winter – fishing for salmon. What I’m encountering is nothing that a seasoned fisherman hasn’t already experienced before breakfast.
As I travel through these rough seas, my thoughts turn to all the wonderful things I’ve been blessed with in my life. No, I don’t think I’m going to die… it’s just that time of year again, where we over indulge in endless eating (and drinking) to the point of such excess, it makes us sick. We lose the true meaning of the holiday season.
As 2005 rapidly comes to a close, take a few minutes and ponder what you are grateful for this holiday season. Is it…
health... friendship... spiritual deepening... financial security / stability or comfort...
enlightenment... professional growth... lessons learned... personal enrichment...
family strength... unconditional love... or maybe something else not mentioned here?
What are some of the things you are thankful for right now in your life?
Take more than a moment to thank your God, Higher Power or the Universe.
Thank deeply for all that you have now and all that is yet to come.
Journal on your thoughts… and journal on thoughts of thanks.
Express in words to those individuals who are part of your thanks.
And most importantly, give thanks to yourself for recognizing such a moment of gratitude.
In closing, I want you to know I made it through the storm and arrived home safely, ready for my next adventure. I am thankful for such an experience that provided me with many lessons learned along the way.
Blessed thanks to all of you reading this. Here’s wishing you peace, joy and love this holiday season. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and wishing you a very prosperous New Year. Much Love and Many Hugs…
Warmest Regards,
Rosemary Augustine Y
