The Eiffel Tower our first day, and many days thereafter. When you first see it, you can't believe how big it is. It is Awesome!

We had a French Picnic (wine, cheese, baguettes and chocolates) here on Christmas day. ...and I watched the fireworks here at midnight on Dec 31st.
And, at sunset ...no matter where you are in the city, you can always see it.
And... The Eiffel Tower lights up at dark and every hour it twinkles as in this picture. Taken from my favorite bridge Pont Alexandre III.
Our hotel... The Grand Hôtel Lévêque, 29 rue Cler, Paris. Our room had 2 windows - which are the upper 2 on the left.
Photo provided by our hotel's website... rue Cler was a bustling street market with specialty shops open from 7am - 7pm ... A pedestrian street, with an occasional car driving through to make a delivery.
rue Cler at night... lots of restaurants and activity til about 9pm. Then pretty deserted. W We were 4 blocks from the Eiffel Tower and 6 blocks to Champs Elysees.
Musée de Louvre Yes! I saw the Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo, incredible paintings by Delacroix, Jacques-Louis David, Raphael, and statues by Michelangelo just to name a few. The structure is overwhelming and so is everything inside.
The Pyramid at the Louvre The lines you see in the background are to go through security.
Above is the interior courtyard of the Louvre...
Notre Dame... we attended the International Mass on Christmas Eve
The front of Notre Dame at night with lighted tree.
Père Lachise Cemetery where Edith Piaf, Chopin and Jim Morrison are buried.
Musée de Orsay... My favorite museum, brought me to tears when I saw Claude Monet's paintings. I later spent time in the Musée de l'Orangerie (Monet's water lillies) and the Marmatton (Monet's Woman in the Green Dress). I was fascinated by Monet's use of painted light on a subject. I also visited the Pompidou Center (Modern Art), Picasso Museum (of course Picasso's work) and the Rodin Museum famous for the Thinker.
One of many scenes of the River Seine
Invalides...Above... is where Napoleon is buried
Hôtel deVille with a skating rink in front during winter, and sand / beach chairs along the Seine in Summer
And last but certainly not least... Champs Elysees at night with the Arc de Triomphe in the background. A celebration of lights... Lots of traffic... People everywhere... Simply an enchanting city!
